Royal Family robbed of £600k jewels in London theft

Two Algerian men have been jailed for stealing £600,000 worth of jewellery from members of the Abu Dhabi royal family at London St Pancras station. The theft occurred on October 16, 2025, when the royals arrived via Eurostar.

Details of the theft

Roda Al Nahyan, her mother Shamsa, and Najla Al Qubaisi were targeted by the gang while their driver was distracted. Three suitcases containing golden necklaces, bracelets and earrings were stolen from their car. The items, worth over £600,000, have never been recovered.

Sentencing

On June 19, 2026, Abdel Aitkebir, 35, and Medhi Fatih, 41, were sentenced at Inner London Crown Court. Aitkebir received two years and six months, while Fatih received two years and three months. Both had entered the UK illegally in July 2025.

Further details

The court heard that Aitkebir sold the suitcases to a market trader in south London for £10,000. He sent pictures of the stolen jewellery to the trader three days after the theft. Another co-conspirator, Faysal Benoumechiara, 27, was also imprisoned for a string of thefts over the past 11 months.
