34 Open Alcohol Cans Found in Speeding Driver's Car

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Troop C officers were stunned when they stopped a speeding suspected drink driver and discovered 34 opened cans of alcohol strewn across the passenger seat. The remarkable traffic stop occurred on Saturday on the Interstate 75 in Pasco County, near Tampa, Florida, after a car was spotted hitting speeds of 90mph. The speed limit in Florida is 70mph.

Arrest and Charges

When the car was pulled over, a trooper was astonished to find dozens of open cans of White Claw, a 5% abv alcopop, littering the inside of the Honda Civic. The driver, Conor William Parady, aged 34, from San Antonio, Texas, was said to be "heavily intoxicated." Parady was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and sent to Pasco County Jail.

Sharing images of the cans found in the car on social media, the FHP Troop C said in a statement Parady had a blood alcohol level of 0.177. The legal limit in Florida is 0.08, or 80mg/100ml blood.

Details of the Traffic Stop

The FHP Troop C statement read: "An FHP State Trooper on patrol northbound along I-75 at the 280 Milepost in Pasco County spotted a speeding motorist. The vehicle, a Honda Civic, was traveling in excess of 90 MPH and passed the Trooper. The Trooper performed a traffic stop, observed the driver was heavily intoxicated and was in possession of 34 open containers. The driver, Conor William Parady, 33, of San Antonio, was arrested for DUI and delivered to the Pasco County Jail with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.177."
