Woman Quits Job After £120k Lottery Win, Spends All

Olivia Love, 37, from Glasgow, won £120,000 on the National Lottery's Set for Life game in May 2025, receiving £10,000 monthly payments for a year. She quit her supermarket job and spent the entire sum on a second wedding ceremony, a new car, and launching her dream career as a wedding content creator, saying she has no regrets.

Winning and Quitting

At the time of her win, Love worked in a supermarket. She decided to leave her job immediately and pursue a career as a wedding content creator. The Set for Life scheme entitled her to £10,000 per month for 12 months, totalling £120,000. Once the year ended, the payments stopped.

Love told Business Insider: "Money was always a source of stress. I'd say we were on the breadline. We always had enough to pay the rent and the bills, but there was never anything left over at the end of the month."

Investing in Family and Career

Rather than dramatically changing her lifestyle, Love chose to invest in her partner and her "dream job." She and her husband held a second wedding ceremony and traded his old car for a better model. She also spent about £7,500 setting up her business, Moments by Love, which captures candid digital content during weddings.

She explained: "In the first six months, I spent about £7,500 setting up Moments by Love. I bought everything I needed, from new phones to microphone equipment. I did my first few weddings for free or very cheaply to build up a portfolio. You have to spend money to make money."

No Regrets

When the final instalment arrived in April 2026, Love admitted it was sad, but she insists she harbours no regrets. She said: "In the end, I made the decision that was right for my career, for me, and for my family. I didn't save any of our winnings. I could have, but because we'd struggled for so long, I don't regret a thing about choosing to live our best lives."
