Walkers fans are celebrating as the brand brings back its KFC-inspired Max crisps, which were discontinued five years ago. The popular flavour, often described as 'the best crisps ever,' has returned to supermarket shelves, with the Original Chicken variety joining the permanent lineup and the Zinger variant available for a limited time.
Return of a Fan Favorite
The news was first shared by the social media page 'NewFoodsUK,' which posted a photo of the crisps in a Morrisons store with the caption: 'KFC Crisps are back! Spotted at Morrisons.' Walkers confirmed the comeback on X, responding to a fan who had pleaded, 'Please bring these beauties back.' The company replied: 'Great news, they’re back! The wait is over as MAX KFC Zinger and MAX KFC Original are back on shelves! Enjoy!'
The Max range features thick-cut, deep-ridged crisps. The Original Chicken flavour aims to 'perfectly capture' the peppery, salty, and spiced essence of KFC's blend of 11 herbs and spices, while the Zinger offers a spicy and zesty kick.
Fan Reactions
Crisps enthusiasts expressed their excitement on social media. One fan declared, 'The best crisps ever,' while another said, 'Hell Yeah! I loved these last time!' A third commented, 'I've already bought a few in Morrisons and the food warehouse, but I would love the zinger ones to make a come back too.'
Walkers has discontinued several flavours over the years, including Worcester Sauce and Marmite varieties. The KFC-inspired crisps were part of the Max range, which also includes other products under the Walkers umbrella such as Wotsits, Quavers, Monster Munch, Squares, and Bugles.
Availability
The crisps are currently available at Morrisons and Iceland supermarkets in the UK, with a wider rollout to other supermarkets starting July 20. While the Original Chicken flavour is a permanent addition, the Zinger crisps will be available only for a limited time.
