Antonio Rudiger has described Germany teammate Nathaniel Brown as a 'monster' on the pitch, despite being a 'very calm character' away from it. The 23-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt full-back is on the verge of a £48 million move to Bayern Munich, with Manchester United having scouted him but now set to miss out.
Rudiger's Praise for Brown
Speaking about his international colleague, Rudiger said: 'I don't need to say much about him, I'm positively surprised. I saw how he shut down Antonie Semenyo in March.' The reference was to Germany's friendly against Ghana, where Brown faced the Manchester City forward during a 2-1 win.
The former Chelsea defender added: 'He's a very calm character off the pitch, but on the pitch, he's a monster. These young lads are already very far ahead for their age.'
Brown's Impressive Form
Brown has contributed 12 goals and assists for club and country this season. At the World Cup, he assisted Nico Schlotterbeck from a corner in Germany's 7-1 win over Curacao and later scored their fifth goal. His performances have attracted interest from top clubs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Liverpool, but Bayern Munich is reportedly close to securing his signature.
Manchester United's Left-Back Search
Manchester United had scouted Brown but now face disappointment as Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt negotiate the £48 million deal. Sky Germany reports that an agreement is close, with Brown having verbally agreed to a five-year contract after positive talks with Bayern coach Vincent Kompany.
United will now turn to alternative targets, with Lewis Hall emerging as a potential option. Patrick Dorgu's expected shift to a winger role would leave Luke Shaw as the club's only natural left-back, making the position a priority for the summer transfer window. However, Newcastle United's recent sale of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for £69 million may reduce their need to cash in on Hall, complicating United's pursuit.
