Rangers' Bid Rejected, Tromso Holds Firm on Valuation
Rangers have had a £5.3 million offer for midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl rejected by Norwegian club Tromso, who are standing firm on their £7.5 million valuation. The 20-year-old Norway U21 international has been a long-term target for the Scottish giants, but the first bid fell short of Tromso's demands.
Hjerto-Dahl's Reaction: Relaxed but Intrigued
Speaking after Tromso's 4-0 victory over Valerenga, where he scored, Hjerto-Dahl admitted the speculation is hard to ignore. "You have to try to have a relaxed attitude towards it, but take a position on things that become concrete," he told I Tromso. "There are some things that are a bit beyond my control. You have plenty of time. In collaboration with Lars Petter Andressen and my agent, it is possible to think about it a bit. You can't put it all away, but I try."
He acknowledged the constant questions about his future: "There are a lot of questions, that's the only thing people want to talk about. It's just nice, it's because people care." The player has previously described a move to Rangers as 'tempting' and has watched Old Firm matches to understand Scottish football.
Tromso Chief Confirms Multiple Suitors
Tromso's sporting director, Lars Petter Andressen, revealed that Rangers are not the only club interested. "There have been a few quiet days now, but there have been negotiations over the past week. We'll see what happens, it could take a while," he said. "Several clubs are interested, but a lot has to fall into place for something to happen. If he's going to move on, it has to be a club Jens wants to go to, and we also have quite high expectations for the price. It's not certain he'll leave."
Impact on Rangers' Transfer Plans
Rangers will need to decide whether to increase their offer or move on to other targets. Hjerto-Dahl's contract situation and Tromso's firm stance suggest any deal will require a significant investment. The midfielder's performances, including his goal against Valerenga, continue to attract attention, but a transfer is not imminent.
