Chester Restaurant Jaimito's Closes After Owners' Mental Health Struggles
Jaimito's Closes in Chester Over Mental Health Concerns

Jaimito's, a Chester-based dining concept, is set to close after its owners said they were 'breaking ourselves physically and mentally'. The restaurant, located within That Beer Place on Foregate Street, announced the decision to reevaluate aspects both professionally and in their personal lives.

A Unique Culinary Concept

Jaimito's offered a blend of Mexican, Nordic, Japanese and English cuisines. The concept was run by husband-and-wife team Jamie and Amelia, who previously helped Wild Shropshire Restaurant gain a Green Michelin Star in 2025.

The couple sought to create a venture of their own, building Jaimito's after a series of pop-ups across Cheshire and Liverpool's Bunch wine bar on Berry Street, before securing a permanent residency inside That Beer Place.

Announcement on Social Media

In a statement shared on Instagram, Jamie and Amelia announced they need to 'take a pause' to focus on 'a few things in our life and with our business'. The post read:

'A message from both of us: You’ll see us around, but less. Half of Jaimito's has been working two jobs as well as handling a lot of admin work. The other half has been burning the candle at both ends. Both of us want to continue, but it currently isn’t healthy for us. So we’re taking a step back.'

'It hurts to admit this, but we’ve been breaking ourselves physically and mentally, and we need to take a pause and reevaluate a few things in our life and with our business.'

Support from the Community

The announcement was met with love and support. One person said: 'Absolutely gutting - you guys are fab. Look after yourselves.' Another commented: 'Thank you both for the amazing food. And most importantly thank you for the friendship we've made. Love you guys.'

Future Plans

Jamie and Amelia concluded by thanking everyone who supported Jaimito's. They hope the concept returns in the future. They said: 'Thanks especially to That Beer Place for hosting us, teaching us, and pushing us to be better in business, in life, and as individuals. We won’t ignore anything you’ve told us, and we’re beyond grateful for the help, advice, and grace you’ve given us.'

'We still have some events in the pipeline, and will hopefully keep popping up places in the future, but for now, we need to work to become better versions of ourselves for ourselves.'
