AerFin, a Newport-headquartered aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul company, is being acquired by Japanese firm Orix Aviation in a deal worth hundreds of millions of pounds. The transaction, subject to regulatory approval, is expected to be completed towards the end of the year.
Deal Details and Financial Performance
The value of the deal has not been officially disclosed, but with debt, it is understood to be around £475m. The acquisition follows AerFin's strong financial performance in 2025, with revenues climbing 25% to approximately £276m and Ebitda up 33% to more than £52m.
AerFin, which also operates in Miami, Singapore, and Dublin, recently relocated its headquarters from Bedwas to a larger facility at Indurent Park in Newport. The company employs more than 230 people globally, with about half based in Newport.

Simon Goodson, chief executive of AerFin, expressed delight at joining the Orix Group, praising the shared values and the support of founder Bob James, departing majority shareholders CataCap, and the company's customers and employees. He highlighted Wales' role in AerFin's growth, from its beginnings in Cardiff to its current headquarters in Newport.
James Meyler, chief executive of Orix Aviation, called the acquisition a significant milestone, noting AerFin's leading aftermarket platform and experienced team. He emphasized the potential to deliver more value for customers and investors while supporting a more sustainable aviation industry.
