Everton will discover their Carabao Cup second round opponents this evening, with the draw taking place before the first-round tie between Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City.

Thirty-eight EFL clubs progressed from the first round, including all three sides relegated from the Premier League last season. They will be joined by 11 Premier League clubs that did not qualify for European competition, including Everton, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

What to expect

The second round is scheduled to take place later this month, with Premier League clubs entering the competition at this stage. The draw will determine the fixtures for the next round, with matches expected to be played in the week commencing August 24.
