Celtic are poised for a busy transfer window as the new Premiership season and Champions League playoff approach. Real Oviedo sporting director David Fernandez has conceded that a big-money offer for Celtic-linked winger Haissem Hassan will take the player's future out of his hands. Hassan, an Egypt World Cup star, saw his release clause tumble after Oviedo's relegation last term. He can now be had for £10m, down from £16m, with the forward linked to both Glasgow and Saudi Arabia. An initial £3.4m offer was reportedly made by Celtic, but Spanish sources indicate the Scottish champions maintain interest. Fernandez told Spanish media: "We are here to make the best sporting decisions and have the best possible team. I don't control the financial aspects. We want the best players, but the market will determine when we finalise the squad."
Kyogo and Araujo eye Celtic returns
Celtic could bring back Kyogo Furuhashi as he nears an exit from Birmingham City. Reports in Japan suggest the striker is keen on a deal. Kyogo rejected a return to Celtic in January, just a year after his £10m Parkhead exit to Stade Rennes. His move to St Andrew's failed to restart his career, and Birmingham boss Chris Davies confirmed an exit is imminent for the 31-year-old. QOLY report that Kyogo "wants" a return to Parkhead and hoped Celtic would revive their interest, though it's unclear if they have.
Similarly, Julian Araujo is said to be keen on a return to Glasgow's East End. The Mexico international spent the second half of last season on loan at Celtic from Bournemouth, but his campaign ended early due to injury. Martin O'Neill has conceded he would like to bring back the 24-year-old but may wait until the end of the window. Posta Deportes report that Araujo has told Cruz Azul and other Liga MX clubs he will not return to his homeland yet, focusing on keeping his career in Europe. The player is "prioritising" a return to Celtic, but Bournemouth's £6.8m valuation could be a stumbling block.
Bakker also linked
Atalanta's versatile left-wing back Mitchel Bakker has been touted with a move to Celtic Park after the club failed to bring back Marcelo Saracchi from Boca Juniors permanently. Tutto Mercato Web report that Italian and Turkish clubs are showing interest in signing the 26-year-old, but a move to the Scottish champions is "especially interesting" for him, with a clear path to the Champions League for Celtic.
