Greater Manchester Heatwave: Day-by-Day Forecast as Amber Warning Issued
Greater Manchester Heatwave Forecast as Amber Warning Issued

The Met Office has issued an amber heat warning for Greater Manchester from midnight on Wednesday, June 24, until 11.59pm on Thursday, June 25, as temperatures are expected to reach 34°C. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has also issued an amber heat health alert for the North West from 11am on Monday, June 22, until 11pm on Friday, June 26, warning that "significant impacts are likely" across health and social care services.

Record-Breaking Heat and Humidity

Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster Tom Crabtree said: "The forecast heatwave is developing into an impactful severe weather event, with record breaking June temperatures and very high humidity. The combination of heat and humidity will be oppressive and bring impacts across society from public health and infrastructure, to power and water supplies." He added that consecutive nights with temperatures above 20°C, known as a Tropical Night, will make it hard for people to recover from daytime heat, exacerbating heat stress impacts.
