Jet2 flight LS1413, travelling from London Stansted to Burgas in Bulgaria, was diverted to Frankfurt, Germany, on Monday afternoon after what the airline described as a "medical incident on board".

Diversion to Frankfurt

The Airbus A321 touched down at Frankfurt Airport at 5.43pm local time, where it refuelled before continuing on to its original destination, according to reports from The Mirror.

The aircraft eventually landed at Burgas at 10.27pm local time (8.27pm BST) - approximately one hour and 45 minutes behind its scheduled arrival time of 8.40pm local time.

Airline statement

In a statement on its website, Jet2 said: "Due to a medical incident on board, we wanted to let you know that flight LS1413 London Stansted to Bourgas will need to make a fuel stop in Frankfurt."

"Once the plane has refuelled, it will then continue to Bourgas Airport. This is an unscheduled change, so we're doing everything we can to minimise any disruption to your onward journey."

"Thanks in advance for your understanding and patience during this time - we'll have you on your way as quickly as we can."
