In a welcome move for households, Tesco Mobile has announced a price freeze for millions of customers, providing a shield against the mid-contract price increases confirmed by several other major mobile providers.

Industry-Wide Price Hikes Confirmed

The wider mobile industry is set for a wave of price increases in the coming months. Customers who joined a mobile provider from the start of 2025 will see their contract costs rise, typically during March and April. This follows a recent Ofcom ruling that banned inflation-linked price rises, replacing them with fixed annual increases that must be clearly stated at the point of sale.

For instance, O2 has confirmed its customers will face a rise of £2.50 per month, while select EE customers on Mobile SIM Only plans signed after 31 July 2025 will also see a £2.50 monthly increase. Other major providers are expected to follow a similar pattern.

Tesco Mobile's Price Freeze Solution

Standing apart from the crowd, Tesco Mobile, which serves 5.4 million customers, is offering a way to avoid these hikes. The supermarket's mobile arm has confirmed that customers who choose its exclusive Clubcard Price deals on pay monthly phone and SIM-only contracts will have their basic monthly usage price frozen for the entire length of their contract.

Laura Joseph, Chief Customer Officer at Tesco Mobile, stated: "Families deserve clarity and confidence when it comes to their mobile bills, especially in uncertain times. That's why at Tesco Mobile, we're proud to offer frozen prices on our exclusive Clubcard Price deals - giving our customers the reassurance that their basic monthly usage price won't change for the length of their contract."

It is crucial to note that this protection is only available on Clubcard Price deals. Customers on standard tariffs will be subject to similar annual increases as other providers, with the rise shown in pounds and pence at the point of sale and applied each April.
