Otorbi's agent confirms Premier League interest

The agent of Valencia winger David Otorbi, a rumoured Newcastle United transfer target, has confirmed there has been Premier League interest in the 18-year-old, but insists the plan is to take his progress slowly.

Newcastle are reported to be among several Premier League clubs to have watched Otorbi, who has been catching the eye in La Liga with Valencia. The teenager scored his first senior goal for the club in a 2-2 draw with Racing Santander on Sunday, with reports in Spain claiming that United had scouts in attendance.

Agent confirms contact from clubs

Otorbi became Valencia's youngest ever player when he made his debut as a 16-year-old in January 2024, and recently signed a contract keeping him at the club until 2028. His agent, Nacho Gallart, has admitted there has been contact from abroad, although he stressed the player is happy at Valencia at this stage.

Speaking to MARCA, Gallart said: “He’s a player with a lot of market value, and always has been. In recent weeks, we’ve received calls from quite a few clubs. It’s true that many clubs have called us, especially from the Premier League.”

Plans to progress slowly

Gallart added: “We are very happy in Valencia and, for the moment, our only objective is to continue learning, continue adding to our experience and help the team if the manager deems it appropriate. We want it to be slow. We believe that’s what’s necessary and we don’t want to rush.”

A Valencia native, Otorbi has played for Spain at youth level from Under-15s to Under-18s, and is also eligible to play for Nigeria through his parents.
