The Shokz OpenDots 2 wireless bone-conducting headphones have been reduced from £179 to £152 in Amazon's Prime Big Deal Day sale, which ends at 11:59pm on 7 October. The headphones, launched earlier this year, come in black, grey or white.
Design and Fit
The OpenDots 2 feature a design that combines an ear cuff with a high-tech pair of headphones. They can be used interchangeably between the left and right ear, eliminating the need to adjust them when putting them on. The headphones are lightweight and stayed in place during walking, running, and gym sessions, though they can become dislodged when brushing hair or tucking hair behind the ears.
Battery and Charging
The headphones offer up to 40 hours of playback and fast charging. A five-minute charge provides two hours of listening time, while a full charge takes two hours with a USB-C cable or three and a half hours with wireless charging. The battery life was tested on a 10-day trip to Switzerland and South Korea, requiring only one charge.
Sound Quality and Safety
The open-ear design delivers clear audio for calls, music, and podcasts, with adjustable vocals, bass, and equaliser settings via the Shokz app. Since they are not noise-cancelling, users can still hear their surroundings, which may be beneficial for outdoor exercise or commuting. However, ambient noise such as aeroplane white noise or loud tube trains remains audible.
