Cricut StickerPix prints phone photos at home

Cricut has launched its StickerPix machine series, a new gadget that lets users print photographs direct from their phone at home. The devices can also create custom stickers and labels in minutes.

Both the StickerPix Print (£159.99) and StickerPix Print + Cut (£249.99) enable users to transform their photographs, artwork and concepts into bespoke stickers and prints. The devices deliver high-quality prints that resist water, scratches and fading, making them an ideal choice for adding a distinctive flourish to Christmas gifts or crafting mementos for family and friends.

How the StickerPix works

Small enough to tuck away in a cupboard between uses, the StickerPix devices can link up to Cricut's Design Space app on both smartphone and desktop. The application serves as Cricut's creative platform, allowing users to develop and personalise projects, whether building from the ground up or working with pre-existing designs and templates.

Users can upload their own photographs and concepts, customise editable templates, or explore a collection of more than 1.8 million sticker designs and labels before sending their completed work to the device. For an even more refined result, the StickerPix Print + Cut also includes an integrated precision cutting mechanism that trims around designs to produce tidy, professional-quality stickers without requiring a separate cutting apparatus.

Alternative devices on the market

Aside from Cricut, similar devices include Silhouette's Portrait 4, a compact cutting plotter for £156.49 (was £183.18) at 3DJake. Perfect for enthusiasts and newcomers alike, the device is well-suited for cutting labels and producing personalised stickers.

Elsewhere, the Siser Juliet Digital Cutting Machine (£520, Hobbycraft) represents a premium upgrade. It can be employed for numerous personalisation projects, including iron-on designs, and is capable of cutting paper, card stock, craft foam and more.

Customer reviews and feedback

While it remains relatively new to the UK market, the Cricut StickerPix Print + Cut machine has already secured a strong five-star rating in the US and Europe.

"This is something I didn't know I needed until I received and played with it," one reviewer said. "It makes amazing stickers and labels, and lets you print out amazingly beautiful photos from your phone."

"I think the young ones in my life will love that they will be able to request specific stickers and have them in minutes. Cricut has a great library of designs ready to go. I love this machine."

Meanwhile, another Cricut customer said: "With Stickerpix, I can quickly and easily turn my phone's photos into little stickers or cards. It only takes a few minutes, and I'm already looking forward to using it to simplify the next children's birthday party."

"That way, I can even use the kids' pictures during the party itself. It's a fantastic product that I wouldn't want to be without."

One observation is that those less tech savvy may need some time to familiarise themselves with the various settings. That said, Cricut machines arrive with an extensive range of built-in material presets, eliminating all the guesswork when selecting the appropriate speed and cutting depth.

More positively, this Cricut shopper said: "The photos print beautifully and being able to adjust the cutting shapes and sizes is a really cool feature."

While another said: "The prints are amazing. The colours are so vibrant and high resolution and there are so many templates and backgrounds to choose from."
