Asda, Sainsbury's and Waitrose recall items over health risks

Three supermarkets have issued warnings over food items due to health risks. Products sold in Asda, Sainsbury's and Waitrose stores have been recalled.

Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars recalled

Halo Foods Limited is recalling Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars because of undeclared peanuts. The contents have been mispacked in Skinny Whip Toffee bar wrappers, which do not declare peanuts as an ingredient on the wrapper.

The bars were supplied to selected Sainsbury's stores in England and selected Asda stores in England and Scotland.

Waitrose Tuna Pate recalled due to labelling error

Waitrose is recalling Waitrose Tuna Pate because of a labelling error - the use-by date is incorrect.

Customers who have these products in their kitchen are being asked to return them to the supermarkets concerned. A refund will be given.

Statements from the supermarkets

Asda said: "The product is being recalled because it may contain undeclared peanut allergen. Although the outer packaging and bars are correct, the individual bar wrapper inside states toffee whip bars with incorrect allergens. This means the product may present a risk to consumers, particularly those who are allergic to peanuts. If you have purchased Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Bars please bring them back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information please contact either: Halo Foods at Enquiries@skinnybars.co.uk or 0800 298 3969 or Asda Customer Relations – 0330 053 0111."

Waitrose said: "We are recalling Waitrose Tuna Pâté due to incorrect date code. Do not consume, package up item, return the product to your local Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund. We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused."

The Food Standards Agency added: "The product is labelled with an incorrect use-by date of 17 December 2026, which makes it unsafe to eat after the correct use-by date of 17 October 2026. If you have bought the above product, please do not consume it. Instead, return it to your local Waitrose store for a full refund. For further information, please contact Waitrose Customer Care 0800 188 884."
