A man has died following a fire at a flat in Perth, with police launching an investigation into the incident. The blaze broke out in the early hours of Sunday, 2 March, 2025, on St Catherine's Road.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4:53am, with four fire engines dispatched to tackle the flames. The man was found within the property and pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters spent approximately two hours bringing the fire under control, with the stop message received at 6:46am. Sections of the street were cordoned off as crews dealt with the aftermath.
Police Scotland confirmed that the man's next of kin have been informed. The cause of the fire is being treated as unexplained, and a joint investigation between Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is underway to establish the full circumstances.
