Rory McIlroy's new sponsorship deal with DP World includes a perk that may leave his rivals envious: two personalised fitness and recovery trailers he can take with him worldwide. The Northern Irishman was confirmed this week as global ambassador for DP World, the logistics company that is the title sponsor of the European Tour.
Trailers Packed with Recovery Equipment
The trailers are equipped with gym equipment, an infrared sauna, a cold plunge, and a Hyperice recovery station. This setup ensures McIlroy can prepare optimally for every tournament, wherever he competes.
McIlroy is not the first golf star to use a similar trailer; Justin Rose already uses what he calls his 'recovery vehicle'.
Logistics Handled by DP World
Under the deal, McIlroy's support staff will not need to coordinate the logistics of his international calendar, as DP World will manage shipping and customs operations. The partnership spans multiple years, though the exact duration has not been disclosed.
"When you're competing around the world, consistency really matters," McIlroy said in a press release. "Having the same environment to train and recover in every week gives me and my team one less thing to think about and lets us focus on preparing and performing."
Global Scale and Expertise
McIlroy's travel schedule is more extensive than most elite competitors, with tournaments across the U.S., Europe, Asia and Australia scheduled before the year's end. DP World's CEO, Yuvraj Narayan, said: "Moving goods reliably across borders is what we do for customers in every corner of the world. Applying our global scale, network and logistics expertise to help Rory perform at his best is a natural fit, and a powerful way to show what a smart, end-to-end supply chain makes possible."
The partnership was announced at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Delhi, where McIlroy is competing in the DP World India Championship. The world No. 2 leads a field that includes defending champion Tommy Fleetwood, Race to Dubai frontrunner Patrick Reed, and former world No. 1s Rose and Luke Donald.
