The long-awaited arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI has been thrown into fresh turmoil after a new gameplay leak surfaced online, coinciding with the official confirmation of a further delay pushing its launch to November 2026.
Leaked Footage Sparks Social Media Meltdown
Two years on from the initial trailer reveal, desperate fans were given an unexpected and unofficial glimpse of the game in development. The leak, which originated from a reel posted by a senior Rockstar Games animator, was swiftly shared on the GamingLeaksAndRumours Subreddit before being deleted, causing widespread chaos among the community.
The footage, which appeared on Vimeo, reportedly showed motion-capture work. According to analysis, it featured bicycle animations, a female character interacting with a truck, and the Ocean View area in the background. Crucially, sections were timestamped specifically as GTA 6, lending significant credibility to the leak.
Official Delay Confirms a Longer Wait for Vice City
Rockstar Games simultaneously delivered the bitter news that the game's release has been pushed back. In a statement, the developer apologised for "adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait" but insisted the extra months were needed to deliver the expected level of polish.
The company provided a new, specific launch date: Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026. The statement expressed excitement for players to explore the state of Leonida and a modern-day Vice City, but this did little to quell fan disappointment.
Fan Reaction Ranges from Analysis to Outrage
The dual announcement of leak and delay sent social media into a spin. On Reddit, users dissected the leaked clips. One noted, "Finally, a new GTA 6 leak that is actually real," while another pointed out the severity of the breach: "Dude labels and timestamps the first few clips specifically as GTA 6... things like this could be under NDA."
However, the delay prompted more extreme reactions. One fan vented online: "I just smashed my TV in front of 30 guests at my party because of these constant delays." Another quipped, "Damn it! I became a father, and I might even become a grandfather, and your game still isn’t out yet!"
While the leaked footage offers a tantalising, unconfirmed look at the game's development, Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two have not officially verified its authenticity. For now, the GTA 6 saga continues, with fans left to analyse unofficial snippets as they face a wait of nearly two more years for the final product.
