Ray-Ban has announced the UK release of its latest smart glasses, the Ray-Ban Meta Audio Glasses, priced at £319. The new model is around £90 cheaper than the previous Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, which retails at £409.
Unlike earlier Ray-Ban Meta models, the Audio Glasses do not include a built-in camera, addressing privacy concerns that have surrounded the technology. The cameras in other models have sparked controversy due to reports of people being secretly filmed.
Features and Design
The Audio Glasses come with tiny speakers in the arms and support hands-free calling, music playback, directions, and answers to questions via Meta AI. They can also function as a hearing aid for individuals with mild hearing issues.
Ray-Ban promises up to 12 hours of battery life before the glasses need to be returned to their charging case. The design is lighter than some previous models, making them more comfortable to wear.
Styles and Availability
"By focusing strictly on audio and AI with no camera, we could push design further than ever before. The result is our slimmest frame yet," Meta explained.
The glasses are available in two classic Ray-Ban styles: the retro-inspired Clubmaster and the classic Burbank. Lens options include Clear, Sun, Polarised, and Transitions, with prescription lenses available as an add-on.
