Apple's first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, is proving difficult to source in the UK, with most retailers delaying deliveries until 2027. However, Mobiles.co.uk and Carphone Warehouse are showing the quickest confirmed delivery date of January 7, 2027, for the Star White 256GB model.
The 7.6-inch device launched more than a month after its iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max siblings and is now available on UK retailer shelves. Despite this, stock remains tight, with several networks only offering vague delivery estimates.
Where to Buy iPhone Duo and Delivery Dates
Mobiles.co.uk, a Currys-backed retailer, was initially showing a November 12 delivery for the Star White 256GB model, but this has now slipped to January 7, 2027. Carphone Warehouse also lists January 7 as its delivery date.
EE does not provide an exact timeframe, stating: "Expect dispatch in more than 28 days." O2's site similarly says: "Delivery will take more than four weeks." Sky outlines an 'estimated in January 2027' delivery but gives no exact date, while Three Mobile lists January 20 for all four storage sizes (256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB) with a statement saying 'stock expected', so it's not guaranteed.
Vodafone is currently the longest wait, with free delivery expected between '13-14 weeks', meaning consumers could wait between January 21 and Thursday, January 28. Amazon's listing to buy outright from £1,299 is currently out of stock, and giffgaff states only four models are left on its site.
iPhone Duo Deals with Free AirPods
Mobiles.co.uk is offering a deal that splits the £1,999 cost of the 256GB device to £93.99 a month with an upfront fee of £129, and includes a pair of £119 AirPods for free. Customers can also receive AirPods 3 Pro worth £219 with iD Mobile's 100GB tariff at £93.99 per month and £129 upfront, or the £119 AirPods 5 with the same tariff at £90.99 per month and £129 upfront.
These contracts run for 24 months, while rivals like Sky Mobile offer longer 48-month contracts from £47. Cheaper options are available without any freebies.
Trade-In Offers and Tips
Mobiles.co.uk is also running an enhanced trade-in offer where shoppers can get up to £530 off by handing over an eligible phone, with the top value based on an iPhone 16 Pro Max 256GB. Other models may receive a lower value.
Shoppers can also trade in their current phone at retailers like musicMagpie, which offers an online valuation tool. musicMagpie's Joe Armstrong advises iPhone owners to check their phone's battery health figure, as those at 80% or more could be classed as 'excellent' condition and command a value of £90 more than those with a battery health below 80%. A phone's physical condition and functionality will also affect the trade-in value.
Three Mobile, Sky, Mobiles.co.uk, EE, O2, and Vodafone all knock varying amounts off the Duo for trading in a slightly older iPhone, though it's usually a new-ish Pro Max model with huge storage that'll get the biggest amount off.
What to Consider Before Buying
The iPhone Duo (£1,999) works out more expensive than an iPhone 18 Pro (£1,199) and 11" iPad Air M4 (£743.57) combined. The 18 Pro has a dedicated telephoto lens with up to 8x optical zoom, while the iPhone Duo has a dual camera system with up to 2x optical zoom.
With any foldable smartphone, durability is a consideration, as hinges can break, screens can crack, and response can lag compared to a standard smartphone. Matt Brewer, Mobile Expert at Compare the Market, said: "The launch of the new iPhone Duo is likely to tempt plenty of people into upgrading, but a new handset also comes with new risks."
Brewer added: "Phone theft remains rife, with our research showing more than 61,000 devices were stolen in London alone last year - that's around 168 phones every single day, with thefts up 54% compared with 2022. With sales of the iPhone Duo going live tomorrow, it's well worth shopping around rather than sticking with your existing mobile provider out of habit."
He also advised checking what protection you already have through your home insurance before buying, as some contents policies include personal possessions cover for belongings like your phone when you're out and about, but this isn't always included as standard. If your current protection falls short, consider adding personal possessions cover at renewal, or look at standalone gadget insurance instead.
