Apple's HomePod mini is back with a smart upgrade, adding new colours and enhanced features powered by the latest Siri. The fabric-covered, ball-shaped speaker now comes in shades including blue, green and pink.
Siri improvements and Sound Glow
Apple has revamped Siri across the iPhone, Mac and iPad, and this intelligent boost now reaches the smallest speaker. Users can search for music and ask more in-depth questions. By leveraging the personal context of iPhones, owners can add appointments, such as a dentist visit, to the calendar by speaking to the device.
Another change is the new Sound Glow feature, which lights up the top of the device with colours matching the album artwork being played.
Compatibility and pricing
For iMac owners, the new speaker colours complement the desktop PC and boost default audio, improving gaming and movie sound. The HomePod mini can also link with the newly announced Apple TV 4K, and up to four HomePods can be added for a cinema-like experience.
The new HomePod Mini is available to pre-order at £149.
New HomeView screen announced
Apple also announced the HomeView screen, a 7-inch device acting as a mini command centre for the home. It offers controls for lights, cameras and thermostats, and supports video calls, messages, photos and music. Powered by the latest Siri AI, it comes in Silver, Starlight, Rose Pink and Sage Grey, priced at £299.
