Prison nurse admits relationship with killer inmate at Wandsworth

Stephanie Adair, a 29-year-old prison nurse, has admitted misconduct in a public office after having an “inappropriate personal relationship” with convicted killer Jakhi Crosdale, 28, at HMP Wandsworth.

Adair appeared at Kingston Crown Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to one count of misconduct in a public office. Dressed in a black blazer, she spoke only to confirm her name and plea.

Relationship details

The charge states that Adair engaged in a relationship with an inmate between September 2023 and November 2024. According to the indictment, she maintained the relationship through contact with the inmate’s “illicit mobile phone”.

Adair, from Southwark, south London, was granted unconditional bail. Crosdale, who appeared via CVP link from HMP Manchester, also pleaded guilty to a charge of unauthorised transmission of image or sound by electronic communication from within a prison.

Previous conviction and sentencing

Prosecutor Oliver Mosley told the court that Crosdale had previously been convicted of manslaughter. The inmate, who is on recall until 2029, faced the charge relating to incidents at HMP Wandsworth and HMP Lowdham Grange between February 2024 and October 2024.

Both defendants will be sentenced on February 9.
