Activision has confirmed that double XP tokens earned in Call of Duty Black Ops 7 will transfer to Modern Warfare 4 when it launches later this year. While weapons and unlocks will not carry over, players can use their accumulated tokens in the new title.
Confirmation from Call of Duty Community Team
The announcement came from the Call of Duty Community Teams account on X, replying to a fan who posted an image of a Monster Energy can promoting double XP in Modern Warfare 4. The post read: "We'll be sippin' on Monster and popping 2XP with the community on Day 1 of MP. (Your tokens from WZ/BO7 also transfer over.)"
Double XP tokens are currently earned through the in-game Battle Pass and speed up progression for career, weapon, or battle pass levels. Shorter 15-minute variants are available from promotional Monster Energy cans, with codes on the ring pull. Tokens are tied to players' Call of Duty accounts, so they work across Warzone as well.
COD Points Also Carry Over
COD Points, the premium currency for cosmetics and battle passes, will also transfer to Modern Warfare 4. However, they are platform-specific: points bought on PS5 cannot be used on Xbox Series X|S, for example.
Fans have welcomed the move. One Reddit comment said, "Dope. I felt like there is no reason not to carry those over. Seems like an easy win for the studio in the eyes of the playerbase." Another added, "Sweet. I have a s**t ton of tokens saved up. I always forget to use them." A third commenter requested, "Now make it so it runs on game time and everybody's happy."
Save Your Tokens for Launch
Players with double XP tokens may want to hold off using them until Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23. An open beta is scheduled to start on August 28 across all platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2.
