Minecraft Bedrock Edition has received version 26.40, a major update introducing a new structure, a new biome, and several new items and blocks. The update is available across all Bedrock platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, iOS, and Android.
New Abandoned Camp Structure
The Abandoned Camp is a new structure that generates in multiple biomes, each with its own design variant. Biomes include Meadow, Cherry Grove, Forest, Birch Forest, Old Growth Birch Forest, Flower Forest, Windswept Forest, Dappled Forest, Taiga, Snowy Taiga, Old Growth Spruce Taiga, Old Growth Pine Taiga, Sparse Jungle, Bamboo Jungle, Swamp, Savanna, Wooded Badlands, and Pale Garden. Camps contain chests and barrels with loot, and now include Straw Beds. Procedural trees are placed at camps, and potion names in loot tables have been fixed.
Dappled Forest Biome
The Dappled Forest is a new forest biome found near cold biomes. It features Poplar Trees (with red, orange, or yellow leaves), fallen Poplar Trees, Shelf Mushrooms, and Red Shrubs. Passive and neutral mobs such as sheep, chickens, cows, pigs, rabbits, and foxes spawn here, using cold variants where applicable. A Dappled Forest variant of the Abandoned Camp generates here. Biome fog settings have been adjusted to match other forests, and texture fixes have been applied to Poplar leaves, doors, and signs.
Poplar Trees, Red Shrubs, and Shelf Mushrooms
Poplar Trees come in three color variations, each with matching falling leaf particles. Poplar Saplings drop from leaves and grow into random variants; they are also traded by Wandering Traders. Shelf Mushrooms and Leaf Litter generate on and around the trees. Poplar Logs can be crafted into a new set of wood blocks. Red Shrubs are decorative plants that can be composted and grow with Bone Meal. Shelf Mushrooms come in two sizes, can be grown with Bone Meal, drop two items when broken, are used in stews, and have a slight bounciness when stepped on.
New Blocks and Items
Wool Stair and Wool Slab blocks are added in all 16 colors. The Cushion is a placeable item that players can sit on, crafted in 16 colors using three Wool Slabs of the same color. Cushions can be placed on any flat surface, align horizontally to the grid, cannot move, break if the supporting block is removed, and do not have collision. They are not yet generating in Abandoned Camps but are in the creative inventory. The Straw Bed is a new bed type that allows sleeping through the night without setting the spawn point. It is single-use, cannot be used in the Nether or The End, and is crafted with three Hay Bales to yield four Straw Beds.
