Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the new superhero fighting game for PS5 and PC, launches this week. Developed by PlayStation Studios with Arc System Works and Marvel Games, it is seen as a spiritual successor to the Marvel vs Capcom series, which last saw a mainline entry in 2017 with Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite.
Release Date and Launch Time
The game releases globally on Thursday, August 6. It will be available simultaneously at 8am PDT, meaning UK players get it at 4pm, while those in New Zealand will have to wait until 3am on Friday, August 7. US players on the East Coast can start at 11am Eastern Time.
PS5 owners can pre-load the game now, so they are ready to jump in as soon as the launch window opens.
Roster and Stages
Marvel Tokon launches with 20 characters divided into five teams of four: Reborn X-Men (Wolverine, Storm, Magik, Danger), Amazing Guardians (Star-Lord, Peni Parker, Spider-Man, Ms Marvel), Fighting Avengers (Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Panther), Knights of Doom (Doctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, Carnage), and Samurai Outriders (Ghost Rider, Blade, Deadpool, Loki).
There are seven stages: Asgard, Wakanda, Knowhere, X-Mansion, Savage Land, New York (Day), and New York (Night).
Pre-Order Bonuses
All pre-orders come with three exclusive cosmetic items: the Infinity Gauntlet lobby equipment, Cosmic Surfboard lobby ride, and Baby Groot lobby pet. Digital Deluxe buyers get the Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass, including four characters, one stage, and instant result screen poses, plus a Howard the Duck lobby avatar and Cosmo lobby pet. Ultimate Edition adds five character costumes, including the Doctor Doom Supreme Ruler costume, and an animated chromatic colour unlock.
PS5 Features and PC Specs
Marvel Tokon is PS5 Pro Enhanced, using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) for upscaled visuals. On standard PS5, it runs at 4K with haptic feedback and 3D Audio.
PC players need a PSN account to play online. Minimum requirements are an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT 8GB GPU, Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X CPU, 16GB RAM, and Windows 11. Recommended specs are an RTX 3070 8GB or RX 7600 XT 16GB GPU, Intel Core i7-8700 or Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, 16GB RAM, and Windows 11.
