Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, August 27, giving subscribers early access to the first proper showcase of the highly anticipated game. Rockstar Games has confirmed the streaming platform as the first place players can see more of the game this week.
While full details of what will be shown remain unclear, Rockstar has hinted it will reveal "more about the game that will define the next era of entertainment." Reports from Vice indicate the Extended Look could last up to 20 minutes, potentially featuring long-awaited gameplay footage. Despite a wave of trailers and teasers, Rockstar has yet to show any proper gameplay, with the game set to launch in November.
How to Watch the Extended Look for Free
PS5 and Xbox players with an active Netflix subscription can tune in for the premiere. Sky is currently offering a way to access Netflix for free as part of a streaming package bundle. For as low as £15 per month for its Essential TV Bundle, viewers get access to Netflix's library, including 100 channels such as Sky Atlantic and Discovery+ at no extra cost. The Ultimate TV Bundle, at £24, adds HBO Max, Disney+, and 35 extra channels.
Virgin Media also offers free Netflix with its packages, starting at £32.99, which includes 200 channels and 516Mbps fibre broadband. However, prices for both Sky and Virgin are expected to increase at least twice during the 24-month contract. Virgin has announced its Entertainment bundle will rise to £36.99 from April 2027 and £40.99 from April 2028.
Netflix Partnership and YouTube Airing
The partnership between Netflix and Rockstar Games is being touted as the "first of its kind," with the streaming giant saying it "represents the next generation of storytelling and content on Netflix." Brandon Riegg, Netflix's VP of Nonfiction Series, said: "The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented, and we're honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first."
GTA VI: An Extended Look will also air on Rockstar's YouTube at 2am on August 28, following Netflix's six-hour exclusivity window. Ahead of launch, a separate deal lets gamers save more than £15 when pre-ordering GTA VI for PS5.
