Soap spoilers: Craig fallout, Emmerdale return, Corrie twist

The soaps are lining up major twists for the rest of the year and beyond, with death plots, baby lies and returns on the way across EastEnders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

EastEnders: Craig's death fallout and Janine's return

Craig Ingram's accidental death at the hands of Amy Mitchell will be a huge storyline. As it stands, Amy hasn't told anyone what she's done, and it's not clear when his body will be found. Amid speculation about a faked death or someone being framed, viewers will see Amy dealing with the fallout of her grooming ordeal and the fact she has killed someone, plus what repercussions she may face.

Craig's death could see Amy face trouble, while she has her dad Jack Branning, Sean Slater and the Mitchells on her side. The fallout raises the question of what the future holds for Amy, who was acting in self-defence.

Janine Butcher is back, and it's thought her return will be brief. Spoilers have teased that Linda Carter tracks down her former rival amid a bombshell discovery, and Linda is soon told more by Janine that leaves her and the Carters reeling. Pictures from location shared earlier in the year teased a funeral with Janine and Linda present, while a recent trailer teased a death certificate being given to Linda, amid speculation her ex Mick could be alive and may return.

Emmerdale: Steve Marchant's return and Sadie's exit

Emmerdale is lining up the return of a former character nearly 30 years after their exit. It was recently confirmed that Steve Marchant, Kim Tate's ex, would head back to the village as part of Thea Ramsden's storyline. Actor Paul Opacic is reprising the role after 28 years, and viewers will finally learn the truth about what went on with Kim when she gave Thea, Anthea, up for adoption as a baby. Fans can expect bombshells, truths and an examination of Thea's parentage.

Sadie King is exiting the soap at some point, seemingly around January or February time. Actress Patsy Kensit told the Mirror earlier in the year that she would wrap up filming in December. Only back for six months, she promised chaos and has delivered. With reports teasing a death twist, Patsy has said she ruled out her character being killed off if she was to come back after 20 years away. Still yet to be exposed is her plot against Ruby and Caleb Miligan, which could mean her fling with Caleb and her cruel plan for Ruby, working with Joe Tate, will all come out in the coming weeks.

Coronation Street: baby lie and murder mystery

An almighty paternity twist is set to explode at some point amid Bethany Platt's pregnancy. She had a fling with Kit Green, the ex partner of her mother Sarah Platt. But amid Sarah pining for Kit and asking to reconcile, Kit will soon find out about the baby - but will he figure out he's the dad? This is set to be a big storyline as Bethany continues to figure things out and characters get closer to uncovering the truth.

One big mystery continues - what happened to Cassie Plummer? With Ross Wilkes' villainous behaviour continuing, fans are convinced Ross has murdered Cassie. She was last seen in his car after he sped off with her locked inside. He claimed he'd dropped her off at a station and they parted ways, but he had a family picture that Fiz Brown had given to Cassie when she left. At some point, viewers will finally find out what happened to Cassie and whether Ross did something to her.

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX. Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
