Apple TV drops to £0 as Slow Horses S6 comes out this week

Apple TV is currently offering a 7-day free trial of its streaming service, allowing subscribers to watch the upcoming sixth season of Slow Horses without paying. The new season premieres on Wednesday, September 16, and all six seasons are available exclusively on Apple TV.

The free trial can be cancelled anytime without penalty. Beyond Slow Horses, the platform hosts more than 250 original shows and films, including award-winning hits like Severance, Widow's Bay and Ted Lasso.

Weekly releases and binge-watching tips

New episodes of Slow Horses will be released weekly. Those hoping to stream the latest season without paying for a subscription may wish to wait until the whole season is out before signing up, so they can watch everything during the free trial. The seven-day window could also be used to catch up on season five.

Outside the trial, Apple TV costs £9.99 per month, with the option to cancel anytime. Subscribers can also explore other exclusive shows, such as Severance, a sci-fi drama about co-workers who split their minds between work and personal life, and Pluribus, from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, which imagines all of humankind merged into one hive mind.

Other exclusive series and pricing comparison

Apple TV also offers comedies like Ted Lasso, currently in its fourth season, and Shrinking, starring Harrison Ford as a therapist, with three seasons available. Another recent hit is Widow's Bay, a comedy-horror about a town plagued by supernatural forces that dominated the 2026 Emmy Awards.

Unlike Netflix and Disney+, Apple TV does not offer a cheaper ad-based tier. However, it is cheaper than Netflix's Standard tier at £13.99 per month, and matches standard Disney+ at £9.99, with the added advantage of a free trial, which neither Netflix nor Disney+ currently offer. Amazon's Prime Video, meanwhile, can be unlocked with an Amazon Prime membership at £8.99 per month, with a 30-day free trial and additional perks like fast delivery and Amazon Music.

Season six plot and returning characters

Starring Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb and Jack Lowden as River Cartwright, season six sees the band of misfit MI5 agents go on the run as they become embroiled in “a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge”, according to Apple TV. A teaser trailer last month revealed the return of Olivia Cooke as Sid Baker, who was last seen in the first season when viewers were led to believe she had been killed off.
