An American man has given his six-word verdict on England football fans after the team's opening match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Dallas. The Three Lions defeated Croatia 4-2 in a stunning attacking display, and their supporters made a strong impression on local attendee Casey Settleman.
First Impressions
Casey Settleman, known as the 'Soccer guy' for Snapback Sports, shared his thoughts on Instagram. Speaking to camera, he said: "First impression of the England fans here in Dallas... This is going to be insane." The influencer, with over 30,000 followers, noted that England supporters "completely took over Texas" and predicted it would be "by far going to be the best fan experience" he had ever witnessed.
Beer and Camaraderie
Settleman revealed he asked around 10-12 fans what he needed to do to be a true England supporter. They told him he had to "get on the beers." Despite planning to stay healthy and avoid alcohol during the tournament, he admitted the atmosphere was "too infectious" to resist. "So I'm getting on the booze, and I'm joining the England fans for the day," he said. He added that the experience could set the bar so high that it might become the best of his entire 34-game journey.
In his post caption, Settleman wrote: "The England fans came here to prove why they are the best fans at the World Cup." The post garnered over 10,000 likes, with comments praising the supporters. One fan said: "England and Scotland fans are the best from Europe by far." Another joked: "If both Scotland and England get past the quarterfinals, there will be no beer left in the US, never mind the city."
Next Match
England and their supporters now have a few days to rest before their next World Cup fixture against Ghana on Tuesday, June 23. The match will be broadcast in the UK on BBC One at 9pm BST.
