Manchester United are planning a £60 million move for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, with manager Ruben Amorim eager to bolster his midfield options. The Red Devils believe a bid in that region would be enough to convince the Eagles to sell the sought-after playmaker.
Amorim has closely monitored Wharton's progress at Selhurst Park and is a huge admirer of the 21-year-old, according to reports. The Portuguese coach is convinced Wharton possesses the technical qualities to thrive at Old Trafford.
United's midfield revamp could see Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro depart. Mainoo has not started a Premier League match this season and is linked with a loan move to Napoli in January, while Casemiro is out of contract next year.
Wharton joined Palace from Blackburn Rovers for £18 million in February 2024 and quickly established himself in the Premier League, earning a place in Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2024. He has since become integral under Oliver Glasner, helping Palace to FA Cup success and European qualification.
Palace have a track record of selling their top talent for the right price, having sold Eberechi Eze to Arsenal for £67.5 million last summer and Michael Olise to Bayern Munich a year earlier.
