Tottenham XI vs Chelsea: Porro and Udogie set for derby return

Tottenham are expected to welcome back Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie for Saturday's Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with both defenders closing in on returns from injury.

Porro has been sidelined for a month with a hamstring injury sustained during Spurs' 3-2 defeat by Aston Villa. He missed the 3-1 win over Coventry on Monday night, which marked Tottenham's first Premier League victory of the season. The World Cup winner visited a specialist in Spain during the international break to aid his recovery, and manager Roberto De Zerbi indicated last Sunday that he was hopeful Porro would be available for selection against Chelsea.

“Pedro, I think he's coming. Maybe in Chelsea he can play,” De Zerbi said at his pre-Coventry press conference.

Porro has since been pictured back in training as the team prepares for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Udogie and others in contention

De Zerbi also hopes to have first-choice left-back Udogie available, having decided not to risk him against Coventry. Tottenham are mindful of overworking Udogie given his injury history, but he has had two weeks to recover from the knee issue picked up against Manchester United and should be in contention.

Mykhailo Mudryk is expected back soon from an ankle injury, though he is ineligible for Saturday's game against parent club Chelsea.

Tosin Adarabioyo, Andy Robertson and Omar Marmoush all came off against Coventry with suspected injuries, but De Zerbi played down fears of significant blows. All three are expected to be fit and available, with Marmoush pictured training at Hotspur Way on Thursday.

Team news and absentees

Lucas Bergvall (knee) and Savio (muscle) remain out, while long-term absentees Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons are progressing but still some way from a return to match action.

There were positives from the Coventry victory, with James Maddison starting his first competitive game since May 2025 and Dejan Kulusevski making his first appearance in nearly 18 months off the bench. Both are expected to be in the matchday squad against Chelsea.

Rodrigo Bentancur will serve the second game of his three-match ban after being sent off against Manchester United for headbutting Luke Shaw. De Zerbi will provide a fitness update during his pre-Chelsea press conference on Friday afternoon.

Predicted Tottenham XI vs Chelsea: Kinsky, Porro, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Udogie, Gallagher, Tonali, Maddison, Kudus, Solanke, Marmoush. Injured: Simons, Odobert, Mudryk, Savio, Bergvall. Doubts: Udogie, Porro, Tosin, Robertson, Marmoush. Suspended: Bentancur. Kick-off is at 5:30pm BST on Saturday, October 24, at Stamford Bridge, broadcast on Sky Sports.
