Everton are in advanced talks with Arsenal to sign Denmark international Christian Norgaard, with central midfield a priority for the summer. The interest was first reported by The Athletic.
Norgaard made 20 appearances for Arsenal last season, including seven in the club's Premier League-winning campaign. The Gunners are willing to listen to offers for the 32-year-old just one year on from his move from Brentford, and there is optimism a deal in the region of £7m could be achievable.
Midfield revamp
Everton's midfield has been in flux this summer, with Idrissa Gueye leaving at the end of June after his contract expired. The club had targeted defensive midfield as an area needing improvement and considered options including Parma's Mandela Keita.
Norgaard would become the latest addition in the centre of the pitch, joining £16.5m signing Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough and Merlin Rohl, whose loan from Freiburg was made permanent for around £18m.
Wheatley pursuit
Everton are also weighing a move for Manchester United forward Ethan Wheatley. The 20-year-old England youth international would initially be an addition to help the club's academy.
