Cardiff City close to three new signings; Hjerto-Dahl bid at £7.8m
Cardiff City close to three signings; Hjerto-Dahl bid £7.8m

Cardiff City are on the verge of adding three new players to their squad, according to WalesOnline. The deals, described as 'very close', are separate from the club's long-running pursuit of Tromsø midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl.

Supporters have grown frustrated after the Bluebirds only made Nathan Trott's loan permanent this summer. However, confidence inside the club is rising that multiple signings will be announced soon.

Three deals close

WalesOnline understands that Cardiff have been working on several deals simultaneously. The targets are in midfield, on the wing, up front, and at left-back. Club officials have spread their efforts across different positions rather than focusing on one player.

It is considered unlikely that any arrivals will be announced before the end of this week, but next week is expected to be significant.

Hjerto-Dahl saga continues

The Norwegian midfielder remains a priority. Cardiff lodged a second bid worth around £7.8 million, including approximately £6.2 million up front. Tromsø have since submitted a counter-proposal, but Cardiff have not yet responded. The 20-year-old is expected to play in Tromsø's Europa League qualifier on Thursday.

An unnamed Championship club and Austrian side RB Salzburg have also shown interest in Hjerto-Dahl. Despite this, Cardiff remain keen.

The size of the bid demonstrates owner Vincent Tan's ambition and the high regard for Hjerto-Dahl. However, Cardiff must also ensure funds are available for the three other signings. The board is considering Tromsø's counter-offer while weighing up resources.

The recruitment drive, after a slow start, finally appears ready to accelerate.
