Vauxhall has confirmed the production of its high-performance, all-electric Mokka GSE, promising it will be the fastest battery-electric Vauxhall ever built. Inspired by the Mokka GSE Rally prototype, the new model incorporates much of the technology and styling tweaks previewed earlier this year.
The Mokka GSE delivers an impressive 276bhp and instant torque of 345Nm, accelerating from 0 to 62mph in 5.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 124mph. It uses a 54kWh battery and shares high-voltage components with the rally-spec version, including a Torsen limited-slip differential. Upgraded chassis components and a rear axle with 189 per cent more roll stiffness than the standard Mokka Electric enhance handling, while 380mm front brakes from Alcon and 20-inch alloys on Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres provide stopping power.
Weighing under 1.6 tonnes, the Mokka GSE offers three driving modes: Sport for maximum performance, Normal for everyday driving up to 112mph, and Eco to maximise range. Although official range figures are not yet released, the standard Mokka Electric achieves 250 miles; the high-performance model is expected to be slightly lower.
Exterior design cues include a purposeful front spoiler, bespoke rear accents, and yellow and black GSE badging. Inside, the cabin features Alcantara-clad GSE seats with yellow stitching and a white centre stripe, plus Alcantara door inserts. A customisable 10-inch digital display shows performance metrics such as acceleration data and G-force monitoring, while the central touchscreen reinforces the sporty theme.
Vauxhall managing director Steve Catlin said the Mokka GSE brings motorsport energy to the streets, using years of electric motorsport experience. Pricing and delivery dates are unconfirmed, but the model is expected to cost just under £40,000 to avoid luxury car tax and arrive in showrooms towards the end of this year.
