Szoboszlai injury update as Iraola says LASK clash 'difficult'

Andoni Iraola has played down the seriousness of Dominik Szoboszlai's hamstring injury but admits the midfielder is unlikely to be passed fit for Wednesday's Champions League trip to LASK.

Szoboszlai was withdrawn in the second half of Hungary's 1-0 win over Georgia on October 2 with what was referred to by national coach Marco Rossi as cramp but he subsequently played close to 90 minutes three days later against Ukraine.

Missed Manchester City defeat

The Hungary captain missed Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at Anfield as an injury-hit side collapsed once Ryan Gravenberch had been sent off shortly after the hour mark. Goals from Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and Rayan Cherki did the damage as Iraola was given his first defeat.

Liverpool travel to Austria on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday's game with LASK and Iraola says Szoboszlai is not expected to feature in the Raiffeisen Arena.

Iraola's update

"Dom came from the national team, tiredness, overload," Iraola said. "We put him as a floater in the training session, try to protect him, but he was not feeling [right], it was something very small. But it's true that now we play four games in 10 days."

"So it's going to be difficult, because now we fly to Austria in two days. So I think it's going to be difficult to recover any of the players."
