Bukayo Saka sat out England's training session on Saturday as he manages an Achilles issue, making him unlikely to start Tuesday's World Cup group game against Ghana. England boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed the Arsenal winger is not yet fully fit.
Tuchel provides injury update
Speaking after England's opening win over Croatia, Tuchel said: “Bukayo is ready and will get more and more ready. I think once we go to the last game of this group he will be ready. He was strong in training in small spaces. It was just a matter of if the game was open and he was up and down.” Saka has been dealing with Achilles tendinitis, which limited his involvement against Croatia.
Rashford also a doubt
Marcus Rashford, who was nursing a hamstring issue, was otherwise present in the full squad session at England's base in Kansas City. Tuchel indicated that both Saka and Rashford may again be used as “finishers” off the bench, as they were successfully against Croatia.
England are due to fly to Boston on Monday ahead of the Ghana match. Saka's absence from training suggests he will not be risked from the start, with Tuchel managing his minutes carefully.
