Manchester United's New Signing Struck by Knee Injury Fear

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has been left fearing the worst after the club's major summer signing, Benjamin Sesko, suffered a potentially serious knee injury during the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur. The £73.7million striker was forced to leave the pitch in clear discomfort, casting a shadow over United's Premier League campaign.

Substitution Nightmare for Sesko

The Slovenian international, who had entered the match as a 58th-minute substitute, managed only half an hour on the pitch before his afternoon came to a premature and worrying end. Sesko was seen limping heavily as he made his way down the tunnel, immediately raising alarm bells for the United coaching staff and supporters.

When questioned about the severity of the injury in his post-match press conference, Amorim did not hide his concern. "I have no idea. Because it’s the knee, we never know," the United boss admitted. He emphasised his worry, stating, "I’m concerned with the injury because it's in the knee. We need Ben to be a better team. We have to check everything." The club is now awaiting the results of a medical assessment to determine the full extent of the damage.

January Transfer Plans Could Be Accelerated

The potential long-term absence of a key attacker has forced the United hierarchy to consider their options ahead of the January transfer window. Amorim openly acknowledged that the situation could prompt the club to dip into the market, both to cover for Sesko and for other departing players.

Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo, and Noussair Mazraoui are all set to be unavailable for up to a month due to their participation in the Africa Cup of Nations. "Of course, we are going to have a problem there, but we already knew that," Amorim commented on the upcoming absences.

He confirmed that the club is prepared to act, adding, "So the management of that situation is going to be hard. But let's see when the window is open, if we can improve the team and try to repair something that happened. Until then, we have to take the chance." This statement leaves the door open for potential January reinforcements as Manchester United navigates a challenging period in their season.
