The Northern Irishman, fuelled by overwhelming home support, carded a bogey-free six-under-par 66 on Moving Day. This spectacular charge up the leaderboard places him in a tie for second at 13-under-par, just a single stroke behind the new leader, Germany's Hurly Long.

McIlroy's round was a testament to controlled aggression and precision. After a steady start, he ignited his charge with a stunning eagle on the par-5 10th hole, a moment that sparked the tournament into life. The round could have been even lower, with several birdie putts agonisingly lipping out. Despite the near misses, the satisfaction was evident. "It was another solid day. I felt I played very well from start to finish... I gave myself plenty of chances and obviously made that eagle on 10, which was a bonus," McIlroy stated after his round.
