Wrexham AFC's Hollywood owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have taken another bold step in their mission to elevate the club by appointing former Football Association technical director Les Reed as a strategic advisor.
The move comes as the Welsh club prepares for life in League One after back-to-back promotions under the stewardship of the celebrity duo.
A Strategic Masterstroke
Reed, a seasoned football executive with decades of experience, will provide expert guidance as Wrexham aim to establish themselves in the higher tiers of English football. His impressive CV includes roles at Southampton, the FA, and Charlton Athletic, where he earned a reputation for developing long-term success strategies.
Building for the Future
"Les's appointment demonstrates our commitment to sustainable growth," said co-chairman Rob McElhenney. "His expertise will be invaluable as we navigate the challenges of League One and beyond."
The 71-year-old football veteran will work closely with manager Phil Parkinson and the board to implement best practices across all football operations.
From Hollywood to Football Glory
Since acquiring Wrexham in 2021, Reynolds and McElhenney have transformed the club's fortunes, both on and off the pitch. Their documentary series "Welcome to Wrexham" has brought global attention to the team, while significant investments have improved facilities and squad quality.
With Reed's appointment, the owners signal their ambition doesn't stop at League One. "We're building something special here," Reynolds commented. "Les shares our vision for what Wrexham can become."
The club's remarkable journey continues to captivate football fans worldwide as they prepare for their first League One campaign in nearly two decades.
