Thomas Tuchel has officially named his 26-man England squad for the 2026 World Cup, set to take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The German manager, who took over from Gareth Southgate, has made some surprising choices, leaving out several big-name players.
Goalkeepers
The three goalkeepers selected are Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson, and James Trafford. Pickford, the Everton shot-stopper, remains the number one choice, while Henderson and Trafford provide backup.
Defenders
Tuchel has opted for nine defenders: Reece James, Tino Livramento, Nico O'Reilly, Djed Spence, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, John Stones, Dan Burn, and Jarell Quansah. Notably, Harry Maguire and Kyle Walker were left out.
Midfielders
The midfield consists of Declan Rice, Elliot Anderson, Jude Bellingham, Jordan Henderson, Morgan Rogers, and Kobbie Mainoo. Bellingham, a key player for Real Madrid, is expected to be a pivotal figure.
Forwards
The attacking line-up includes Harry Kane, Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins, Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Gordon, and Eberechi Eze. Kane, the captain, will lead the line as England aim for glory.
