Fans of the iconic AFL Footy Show were in for a nostalgic treat as Trevor Marmalade, one of the show’s most beloved personalities, made a rare public appearance after years away from television screens.
Marmalade, who vanished from the spotlight in 2008, has been living a surprisingly low-key life since his departure—working as a taxi driver and, more recently, gaining traction on Instagram with his humorous posts.
From TV Star to Taxi Driver
After his abrupt exit from the entertainment industry, Marmalade swapped the glitz of TV studios for the driver’s seat of a cab. Despite the drastic career change, he has remained a familiar face to those who recognise him from his heyday on the AFL Footy Show.
"People still stop me and say, ‘Aren’t you that bloke from the telly?’" Marmalade shared in a recent interview. "It’s nice to be remembered, even if I’m just driving them home!"
A Social Media Comeback
Though he stepped away from mainstream media, Marmalade hasn’t entirely left the public eye. His Instagram account, filled with witty observations and throwback moments, has slowly been gaining followers.
"I never planned to be an influencer," he joked. "But if people want to see an old footy bloke making silly jokes, I’m happy to oblige."
