Tottenham Manager Igor Tudor Misses Post-Match Media Duties Following Family Bereavement

Tottenham Hotspur manager Igor Tudor did not speak to the media after Sunday afternoon's 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest due to a family bereavement. Assistant coach Bruno Saltor took his place in addressing reporters following the match, which left Spurs just one point above the Premier League relegation zone.

Nottingham Forest's Victory Shakes Up Relegation Battle

Nottingham Forest started the day below Tottenham in the table but moved two points clear with goals from Igor Jesus, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Taiwo Awoniyi. This result intensifies the relegation pressure on Tottenham, who have struggled for consistency this season.

Bruno Saltor Steps In for Tudor

Saltor explained that Tudor's absence was due to personal family matters, stating it was not an appropriate time for the Croatian manager to speak. "Personal matters, family matters and I am stepping in as it is not right time for him to speak," the former Chelsea coach said.

Saltor's Assessment of Tottenham's Performance

Reflecting on the match, Saltor acknowledged the team's difficulties but praised their effort. "Every mistake right now is going against us, every detail is going against us and it affects the players as well," he noted. "You can see how much they are fighting. We are in a difficult situation, everyone knows."

He highlighted that Tottenham were the better team in the first half but failed to maintain that level. "In the first half we were the better team and need to be consistent with that. We were 1-0 down and wanted to be a little more aggressive with players coming back from injuries. It didn't work as planned but it was our intention."

Emotional Response and Fan Support

Saltor expressed the pain of the defeat but commended the fans for their unwavering support. "It hurts us, it is painful, really painful, but the fans were outstanding today - from before the game until the end of the game." He emphasized the team's commitment to overcoming their challenges, saying, "We need to carry on because we care, we care for Spurs, we are family and want to get out of this situation. I am 100% sure we can get through this situation."

Context of Tottenham's Season

This loss adds to Tottenham's woes in a turbulent season, with the club now dangerously close to the relegation zone. The absence of Tudor from media duties underscores the personal toll amid professional pressures, as the team seeks to rally in upcoming matches to secure their Premier League status.
