Tottenham Hotspur produced a dominant display at home, overcoming a Brennan Johnson red card to thrash Copenhagen 4-0 in the Champions League. The victory lifted them to eight points from four unbeaten group matches, providing a welcome boost after a disappointing Premier League defeat to Chelsea.
Wilson Odobert opened the scoring before Johnson was sent off for a clumsy challenge on Marcos López in the 57th minute. Despite being reduced to ten men, Spurs extended their lead through a sensational solo goal from Micky van de Ven, who dribbled from his own penalty area past four defenders before lashing home left-footed.
João Palhinha added a fourth late on, and even a missed penalty from Richarlison could not dampen the mood. The Brazilian's spot-kick bounced down off the crossbar, having been awarded after substitute Dane Scarlett was fouled.
Copenhagen, languishing fourth in the Danish Superliga, offered little threat. Spurs goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski was at fault for the second goal, hesitating on a long ball that allowed Randal Kolo Muani to set up Odobert. Xavi Simons shone for the hosts before being substituted after Johnson's red card, while Kolo Muani missed two clear chances in the first half.
