Tottenham Hotspur produced a stunning display to beat Copenhagen 4-0 in the Champions League, despite playing the final 33 minutes with ten men. A first-half strike from Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert's goal put Spurs in control before Johnson was sent off in the 57th minute for a clumsy foul on Marcos López.
The dismissal only spurred Tottenham on, with Micky van de Ven scoring a sensational solo goal minutes later. The centre-half collected the ball on the edge of his own box, surged past four Copenhagen players and drilled a left-footed shot past goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski. It was Van de Ven's sixth goal of the season and drew comparisons with Son Heung-min's Puskas Award-winning effort against Burnley in 2019.
Substitute João Palhinha added a fourth goal late on, while Richarlison missed a penalty, his shot striking the crossbar. Spurs were dominant throughout, with Xavi Simons creative in the number 10 role and Randal Kolo Muani squandering several chances before providing an assist for Odobert.
The win moved Tottenham to eight points from four unbeaten Champions League matches, providing a much-needed boost after a disappointing home league defeat to Chelsea at the weekend. Copenhagen, fourth in the Danish Superliga, offered little going forward and remain with just one point from their opening four ties.
