Sinfield raises £1.15m in latest MND challenge

Rugby league hero Kevin Sinfield has completed his latest gruelling endurance feat, raising a staggering £1.15 million for charities supporting those with motor neurone disease (MND).

An Epic Tribute to a Friend

The former Leeds Rhinos and England captain finished his '7 in 7: Together' challenge on Sunday, 7th December 2025, arriving at AMT Headingley Stadium in Leeds. His final leg was a run from York, culminating at the ground where he and his late friend Rob Burrow enjoyed so many triumphs.

Sinfield, 45, undertook the challenge in memory of Burrow, his former teammate who passed away in 2024 after a four-and-a-half-year battle with MND. Over seven consecutive days, Sinfield ran seven ultramarathons, each at least 28 miles long, covering a total of roughly 185 miles across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Smashing the Target for the MND Community

The fundraising target for this sixth endurance challenge was symbolically set at £777,777 in honour of Burrow's iconic shirt number seven. The final total of £1.15 million significantly surpassed that goal.

Addressing an emotional crowd at Headingley, Sinfield paid tribute to those affected by the disease. "To the MND community and the people we've met en route... you're an absolutely beautiful community," he said. "We've got to keep fighting for the MND community."

A Legacy of Millions for MND Research

This latest effort brings the total sum Sinfield has raised for MND charities to an astonishing more than £11 million. His series of endurance challenges, which have captured the public's heart, began as a direct response to his friend's diagnosis.

The challenge also included joining a 'Santa Dash' in Leeds on the final day, blending immense physical effort with community spirit. Sinfield's unwavering commitment continues to shine a vital spotlight on motor neurone disease and the urgent need for research and support.
