Roy Keane has taken on a new role mentoring his future son-in-law and Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis. The former Manchester United captain's daughter, Leah, became engaged to Harwood-Bellis in June 2024, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Iris, in December 2025.
The Sky Sports pundit, known for his blunt television persona, has given Harwood-Bellis his seal of approval. The 23-year-old centre-back revealed he occasionally seeks advice from the seven-time Premier League champion and Champions League winner.
Ahead of Sunday's South Coast Derby between Southampton and Portsmouth, Harwood-Bellis told Sky Sports: 'There's bits of football on the table. There's no better person to ask in terms of big moments with the experiences he's gone through.' He added with a laugh: 'But he's never experienced the Southampton vs Portsmouth Derby so I'll let him know how that one goes.'
In November 2024, Keane was working as an ITV pundit when Harwood-Bellis scored on his England debut against Ireland. Keane admitted it was 'bittersweet' but praised the youngster, saying: 'He's a nice kid, his family's done a good job.'
Harwood-Bellis has made 25 appearances for Southampton this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists. The Saints sit 15th in the Championship, while Portsmouth are 21st.
