Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has launched a scathing critique of Arsenal's transfer strategy, claiming the club are making a huge mistake by not prioritising a world-class striker this summer.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Richards argued: "They've got Declan Rice, Martin Ødegaard, Kai Havertz - how many midfielders do they need? What they're crying out for is a proper No. 9."
Arsenal's Striker Dilemma
The Gunners have been linked with numerous midfielders including Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi, but Richards believes this is misguided:
- Gabriel Jesus has struggled with injuries and consistency
- Eddie Nketiah hasn't proven he can lead the line for a title-chasing side
- Kai Havertz remains unconvincing as a central striker

Richards warned: "If Arsenal want to overtake Manchester City, they can't go into another season without solving their striker problem." The pundit pointed to Erling Haaland's impact at City as evidence of what a prolific goalscorer can bring to a title-chasing side.
Mikel Arteta's side finished just two points behind champions City last season, but their lack of a consistent goalscorer ultimately proved costly in key matches.
