Marcus Rashford's future remains uncertain as Barcelona hesitate to meet Manchester United's £26 million asking price for a permanent transfer. The 28-year-old forward, currently on loan at the Camp Nou, has impressed with 13 goals and 13 assists in 45 appearances for Hansi Flick's side.
Despite Rashford's desire to make the move permanent, Barcelona are reluctant to pay the required fee and are reportedly considering another season-long loan instead. This impasse has opened the door for other clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur expressing 'genuine interest' in the England international, according to Spanish publication Sport.
However, Tottenham's pursuit is conditional on avoiding Premier League relegation. Spurs currently sit 18th in the table, two points from safety with four games remaining. If they stay up, they could rival Barcelona for Rashford's signature.
Barcelona's caution is partly due to their pursuit of Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez, who is also attracting interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. Atletico boss Diego Simeone acknowledged the interest, saying: 'It's normal that an extraordinary player like Julian Alvarez is wanted by Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona.'
Rashford remains composed and hopeful that Flick's backing will secure his stay in Spain. Meanwhile, Manchester United are preparing for a significant summer overhaul under a new manager, with Rashford among several players available for transfer to fund a midfield signing.
